Jewellery Trouble Shooting Wax Pattern Problems
Mould over fills
Cause : Air pressure too high.
REMEDY :
Reduce air pressure
Cause : Wax too hot.
REMEDY :
Adjust temperature
Cause : Plates heldwith uneven
REMEDY :
Held plates firmly,distributing pressure
evenly over
Cause : Pressure/not covering mould.
REMEDY :
Entire mould surface.
Cause : Mould held too long at nozzle..
REMEDY :
Hold for less time.
Mould not filling
Cause : Air pressure toolow.
REMEDY :
Adjust air pressure.
Cause : Wax not hot enough.
REMEDY :
Adjust temperature.
Cause : Nozzle plugged.
REMEDY : Remove and clean.
Cause : Mould held too tightly.
REMEDY : Hold without squeezing.
Cause : Uneven pressure caused by dirty plates.
REMEDY : Clean plates so surfaces are flat.
Cause : Air trapped in mould.
REMEDY : Make air release cuts(vents) in mould.
Be sure wax pot is more than ½ full.
Cause : Mould too cold.
REMEDY : Warm mould
Air bubbles in pattern
Cause : Air pressure too high.
REMEDY : Adjust air pressure
Cause : Wax pot low on wax...
REMEDY : Add wax. Be sure that wax pot is more
Than ½ full.
Cause : Wax too hot or cold.
REMEDY : Adjust temperature and stir wax to
release trapped air.
Cause : Mould held at wrong angle to nozzle.
REMEDY : Held muold on same plane as nozzle.
Wax brittle
Cause : Wax too hot.
REMEDY : Check temperature of platens.
Cause : Wax has been reused.
REMEDY : Use new wax. Use no less than 90% new
wax with reused. Try avoiding using old wax.
Cause : Moulds cooling too long before opening.
REMEDY : inject fewer moulds during production cycle.
Cause : Using unsuitable wax.
REMEDY : Use wax that is suitable to type of
pattern beingproduced.
Wax discoloured (brownish)
Cause : Wax too hot.
REMEDY : Clean wax pot (steam or soak in Percloroethylene);add new wax.
Pattern bend easily, wax sticks to mould
Cause : Wax too hot.
REMEDY : Adjust temperature.
Cause : Opening mould too soon or mould too hot.
REMEDY : Prolong cooling period by working more moulds.
Wax keeps flowing after mould is filled
Cause : Dirt inside the nozzle.
REMEDY : Remove and clean nozzle.
